Everyone needs

  • A copy of valid vehicle insurance
  • A valid Texas learner’s permit
  • The printed documents for your age group (listed below)

Under 18

  • Texas learner’s permit
  • Parent or guardian with a valid driver’s license
  • Teen Driver Education Certificate (DE-964)
  • Verification of Enrollment (VOE) form from your high school
  • Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) certificate
  • Completed 30-hour Behind-the-Wheel log

Ages 18 to 24

  • Texas permit with the “B” restriction
  • Adult Driver Education (ADE) course certificate
  • Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) certificate

Ages 25 and up

  • Texas permit with the “B” restriction
  • Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) certificate

After you pass

The examiner hands you a sealed envelope. Take it straight to your local Texas DPS office and they’ll issue your official driver’s license.

Do not open the envelope. Breaking the seal voids your test, and you’d have to take it all over again.
